Jorge Emilio Puig Arévalo Award
Laureate as "Maestro Emérito" (Distinguished Professor) by the Universidad de Guadalajara. Puig Arévalo was the first Doctor in Chemical Engineering in Mexico and the second Chemical Engineer to reach level III of the SNI, in 1993.
He is a recognized academic at the CUCEI campus of the University of Guadalajara and member of the National System of Researchers of Mexico (SNI) level III, he has been a shaper of multiple generations of students and researchers in the national and international levels.
Among the recognitions the academic has received, it is the Luis Elizondo Prize in Sciences and Technology, awarded by the Instituto Tecnologico de Monterrey in 2008; the 2010 Scopus Prize in Science of Technology, awarded by ELSEVIER and Conacyt Publishers for having the largest number of citations in his area in the country. In 2011 he was awarded as Engineer of the year, by the Engineering Academy Jalisco Section.
There are 186 articles in indexed international journals that Puig Arévalo has produced. Also, he has been cited both national and internationally 3,259 times. His research is focused on the development of biomaterials and nanomaterials, which have applications in medicine and in the manufacture of new materials for applications in engineering and high technology.
